Focus on overseas certifications, factory expansion, and mass production scale-up
Twinwiz Co., Ltd., a research institute spin-off of the Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS, President Choi Chul-jin/hereinafter KIMS), has succeeded in attracting investment and is now setting out to advance mass production of products by establishing a mass production system that includes overseas certifications and the expansion and relocation of its factory.
The Korea Institute of Materials Science announced on the 29th that Twinwiz Co., Ltd., a research institute spin-off, was finally selected for the 2024 Early Stage Startup Package support program.
The Initial Startup Package Support Program is a government initiative that promotes business stabilization and growth by providing commercialization funds and startup programs to early-stage startups within three years that possess promising startup items.
Twinwiz Co., Ltd. is a company specializing in functional liquid antibacterial/viral additives.
We developed and successfully commercialized a liquid antibacterial/antiviral additive that generates high ions.
Twinwiz Co., Ltd., founded in March 2022, completed Pre-A investment early last year and recently opened a Series-A investment round. The company plans to focus the funds secured on obtaining overseas certifications, expanding and relocating its factory, and scaling up mass production.
Kim Chang-soo, CEO of Twinwiz, stated, “Through our selection for the Initial Startup Package, we have been recognized for our business performance and expertise. Based on this, we plan to expand our business in earnest, focusing on product development and advanced mass production,” adding, “We [provide] what global companies want.” "With the mission of responding with technology, we are currently focusing on Proof of Concept (PoC) with market leaders capable of mass supply," they stated.

Ecolab Expands AI Data Center Cooling Business Through Acquisition of CoolIT
Ecolab has agreed to acquire CoolIT Systems, a liquid cooling company for AI data centers, for approximately $4.75 billion. The transaction is expected to close by Q3 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. CoolIT has been supplying direct-to-chip cooling-based coolant distribution units, cold plates, and manifolds, serving hyperscale data centers and colocation operators as customers. This acquisition is a measure to address the high-heat and high-density server environments created by AI proliferation. Ecolab plans to combine its water management and digital monitoring capabilities with CoolIT's hardware technology to expand its data center cooling business.

KIMS Shares Techniques for Industrial Application of Casting Technology
The Korea Institute of Materials Science held a casting technology seminar at its headquarters in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, and introduced core process technologies utilized in industrial applications. The seminar covered fundamental principles of casting processes and defect control methods, lightweight-oriented die-casting technology, and trends in aluminum casting alloys for mobility applications. At the conclusion of the event, consultations on industrial technical challenges were also conducted, providing an opportunity to expand the interface between research institutions and industry.
