Google to end web version of Maps Timeline

Google's location history service, Timeline, has discontinued its web version and is only supported on mobile smart devices such as mobile phones.
Google recently announced that the timeline feature on its web maps will soon be discontinued.
Timeline is a feature that allows users to look back on the routes and places they have visited, and if location history is enabled, detailed timeline data including the user's location is recorded.
The Timeline feature is available if you have turned on Web & App Activity in your Google Account settings and turned on Location History in Google Maps. However, even if you turn off Location History in Google Maps, there was an issue where location data could be stored in your Google Account depending on how you use the service if Web & App Activity is enabled in your account.
Accordingly, Google is known to have taken this measure to dispel suspicions of unauthorized tracking of user movements, and from December 1, 2024, only location records stored locally on smartphones and other devices will be used.
Existing timeline data used on the web can be kept by updating the settings in the Google Maps app on each device, and when changing mobile devices, timeline data on the previous device must be backed up and imported to the new device.

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.

Ecolab Expands AI Data Center Cooling Business Through Acquisition of CoolIT
Ecolab has agreed to acquire CoolIT Systems, a liquid cooling company for AI data centers, for approximately $4.75 billion. The transaction is expected to close by Q3 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. CoolIT has been supplying direct-to-chip cooling-based coolant distribution units, cold plates, and manifolds, serving hyperscale data centers and colocation operators as customers. This acquisition is a measure to address the high-heat and high-density server environments created by AI proliferation. Ecolab plans to combine its water management and digital monitoring capabilities with CoolIT's hardware technology to expand its data center cooling business.

한국전자통신연구원(ETRI)이 멀티모달 AI가 새 지식을 학습하는 과정에서 기존 정보를 잃어버리는 ‘치명적 망각’ 문제를 줄이는 기술을 개발했다. 이 기술은 이미지와 텍스트 정보를 분리해 저장한 뒤 필요할 때만 연결하는 방식으로, 기존 모델의 지식 손상을 줄이면서 복합 질문에 대한 응답 정확도를 높이는 데 초점을 맞췄다. 연구 결과는 인공지능 학술대회 NeurIPS 2025에 채택됐으며, 정책·법령, 제품 정보, 산업 데이터처럼 지속적인 업데이트가 필요한 분야에 활용 가능성이 제시됐다.
