Mouser Electronics, a global authorized distributor of the latest electronic components and industrial automation products, recently announced that it is supplying AMD/Xilinx's Alveo™ MA35D media accelerator.

The Alveo MA35D media accelerator is an AI-enabled ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit)-based video processing PCIe card that provides high-density, ultra-low-latency streaming for video collaboration, social live events, telemedicine, cloud gaming, auctions, and online education applications.

The AMD/Xilinx Alveo MA35D media accelerator, available for purchase on Mouser, is powered by an ASIC-based video processing unit (VPU) implemented for high-density, ultra-low-latency streaming.

Each device (two per card) is equipped with four discrete encoder engines featuring two 5nm ASIC-based VPUs that support the AV1 compression standard, providing streaming providers with the flexibility to simultaneously extend multiple standards to existing and new endpoints.

Since all video processing functions are executed on the VPU, data transfer between the CPU and the accelerator is minimized, and overall latency can be reduced.And, channel density can be maximized to a maximum of 32x 1080p60, 8x 4Kp60, or 4x 8Kp30 per card.

In addition, this platform provides ultra-low latency for mainstream H.264 and H.265 codecs and features a next-generation AV1 transcoder engine, which can reduce bandwidth by reducing the bit rate by up to 52% compared to equivalent software.

In addition, the Alveo MA35D accelerator is equipped with an integrated AI processor and a dedicated image quality engine that evaluates content frame by frame, dynamically adjusts encoder settings to improve perceived visual quality, and minimizes bitrate.

Optimization technologies include region-of-interest (ROI) encoding for text and face resolution, artifact detection for correcting motion and highly complex scenes, and content-aware encoding for predictive insights to optimize bitrates.
