The Korea Consumer Agency (Director Yoon Soo-hyun) tested and evaluated the quality (life time), safety (leakage resistance, heavy metal content), and economy (comparison with rechargeable batteries) of 14 alkaline batteries currently on the market.

The test evaluation results showed that the core quality, duration, differed between products depending on the intended use (low load, medium load), and when comparing the duration between products based on the product price, the AAA type had a difference of up to 8.6 times, and the AA type had a difference of up to 7.1 times. As a result of testing and evaluating how long the battery lasts under test conditions according to usage (low load and medium load), there was a difference of up to 1.3 times for AAA type and up to 1.2 times for AA type among the products.

Under low-load (digital audio) operating conditions, the duration of four AAA products, Daiso (Neocell), Duracell (Ultra), Bexel (Platinum), and Energizer (Max), and three AA products, Daiso (Neocell) and Duracell (Deluxe/Ultra) were relatively 'excellent'.

Under medium-load (working toys, portable lights) operating conditions, the duration of two AAA products, Daiso (Neocell) and Bexel (Platinum), and three AA products, Duracell (Deluxe/Ultra) and Bexel (Platinum), had relatively ‘excellent’ durations.

When the battery price of each brand for the test evaluation was converted to 100 won and the duration was compared, Daiso Neocell products had a duration that was up to 8.6 times longer for AAA type and up to 7.1 times longer for AA type, showing excellent performance for the price.

All products had no safety issues, including leakage and heavy metal content.

All products were labeled according to relevant standards (polarity, recommended use period, etc.).

The cost of using rechargeable batteries (AA type, lithium-ion, 1.5 V) and regular batteries 200 times was converted to a cost-effectiveness comparison, and even considering the initial purchase cost, using rechargeable batteries was at least 20 times and at most 42 times cheaper.

Rechargeable batteries can be recharged and used repeatedly, and have the advantage of reducing the amount of waste batteries produced. Therefore, for households that use a lot of batteries, it is economical to purchase and use rechargeable batteries.
