Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, a global leader in digital reality solutions combining sensors, software, and autonomous technology, has enhanced workplace safety by obtaining the industry's only international standard occupational safety and health management system certification.


Hexagon announced on the 2nd that its measurement hardware and software solutions division, Hexagon Metrology Ltd., has obtained ISO 45001:2018, an international standard occupational safety and health management system certification, for the design, sales, service, certification, and technical support of coordinate measurement systems.

ISO 45001:2018 is the highest-authority international standard certification in the field of safety and health established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). This certification is granted to companies that have established a management system to prevent industrial accidents that may occur in the workplace and to create a safe working environment for workers.

With the acquisition of this certification, a safe working environment has been secured for Hexagon’s 3D measuring machine equipment team, which performs tasks involving many high-risk elements such as working at heights, handling heavy objects, working with fire, and electrical work. Based on this accredited safety and health standard, Hexagon plans to provide safer services to its clients. In addition, this certification is expected to aid in the expansion of clients' overseas businesses by supporting them in meeting local regulations required for entering foreign markets.

Prior to this, Hexagon had obtained ISO 9001 certification for its overseas factories in Spain, Italy, Switzerland, the United States, China, Brazil, and India, where its 3D measuring machines and some components are assembled and produced. ISO 9001 certification evaluates whether a company establishes policies and goals for quality management, including a system for supplying reliable products and services to customers, and whether it implements and operates a quality management system in accordance with international standard requirements.

With the acquisition of this certification, Hexagon has become the first domestic 3D measuring instrument manufacturer to hold both the international standard Occupational Safety and Health Management System certification ISO 45001:2018 and the Quality Management System certification ISO 9001. As a result, Hexagon has solidified its position as a company equipped with safety regulations on par with major domestic conglomerates and possessing safety capabilities capable of satisfying the requirements under the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
