Apple is reportedly looking to expand its shipments with new products equipped with artificial intelligence (AI).

According to a Bloomberg report on the 10th, Apple is said to be targeting at least 90 million iPhone 16 units for shipments this year. This figure is about 10% higher than the 81 million units of its predecessor, the iPhone 15, which was targeted for shipment in the second half of 2023.

According to reports, the reason for this high target rise is believed to be the inclusion of an AI function called 'Apple Intelligence'.

Apple Intelligence is a personal AI developed by Apple that summarizes, rewrites, and proofreads text. It can also create animated, illustrated, and sketch-style images, and can use user data to perform a variety of tasks.

Also available for on-device and private cloud computing.

In order for Apple to achieve its target sales, it will likely need to differentiate itself from competitors such as Samsung Electronics in terms of AI performance, and compliance with policies and success in China, where AI policies are regulated, are also considered key factors.

The iPhone 16 is expected to be officially released in September.
