The Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 will be delivered by drone, significantly improving customer convenience for consumers in remote areas and contributing to the establishment of drone delivery infrastructure.

Samsung Electronics will launch a drone delivery service for the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 in Jeju Island, Yeosu, and nearby islands of Tongyeong starting July 19th. This drone delivery service for mobile products is the first of its kind in Korea.

Samsung Electronics' drone delivery service is being implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's drone demonstration city construction project. It utilizes drone delivery infrastructure, including drone devices, takeoff and landing zones, and control systems, established by each local government.

Using drones for delivery will enable delivery even during vulnerable logistics times after ships have finished sailing. This will significantly shorten product delivery times from approximately seven days to just one day. Furthermore, it will significantly improve customer convenience, reducing the hassle of in-store visits for consumers in remote areas.

The drone delivery service was piloted in Jeju Island last June and will be fully operational starting July 19. In the future, we plan to expand the range of products to be delivered, focusing on Galaxy mobile products such as smartphones, tablets, Buds, and watches with a loading weight of 10 kg or less.

In Jeju, drones will take off from drone centers in Sangmo-ri and Geumneung and deliver to three bases on Gapado, Marado, and Biyangdo. The service will be gradually expanded to over 10 locations in the Yeosu area, including Hawhado, Jedo, and Songdo, and in the Tongyeong area, including Bisando, Jwado, and Manjido.

A Samsung Electronics official said, “The drone delivery service is a new attempt to provide a faster and more convenient Galaxy experience to consumers in remote areas,” and added, “As a company leading the AI era, we will continue to develop new technologies and services to improve consumer convenience and rights.”

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics has been operating various delivery services to increase customer convenience, such as starting a time-customized installation service that allows consumers to directly designate a delivery time from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM in two-hour increments when purchasing large home appliances such as TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines through Samsung.com since last year.
