Sonnet (CEO Du-won Cha) was recognized for its contribution to improving the acceptance of autonomous driving technology and expanding its base.

Sonnet announced that it received a letter of appreciation from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport at the World Smart City Expo (WSCE) 2024 held at KINTEX in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do from September 3 to 5.

World Smart City Expo (WSCE) 2024, the largest smart city event in the Asia Pacific region, is a technology exchange platform where smart city leaders from around the world gather to work together to create better cities.

Sonnet has been operating a self-driving experience zone within the exhibition hall since 2022, and with 1,000 people participating in the experience in 2023 and 700 people this year, Sonnet’s self-driving experience zone has become a representative icon of the World Smart City Expo.

The key word for this year's Sonet Autonomous Driving Experience Zone was 'driverless', and a total of four vehicles were operated during the event: two Type A autonomous vehicles that were converted from existing vehicles, and two Type B autonomous shuttles without driver's seats.

In just two days, they successfully completed high-precision 3D mapping, scenario implementation, and tuning for safety and convenience to build an autonomous driving experience zone, and the B-type shuttle, which is equipped with a Sonnet sensor system and software on the Navya shuttle hardware that can accommodate up to 15 people, received much attention from passengers and visitors for its excellent ride quality.

In particular, Type A autonomous vehicles do not have a safety driver on board. Sonnet's outstanding technological prowess was showcased, including by introducing driverless autonomous driving technology, which attracted a lot of attention.

In this way, Sonnet has contributed greatly to improving the acceptance of autonomous driving and expanding its base, and was awarded a letter of appreciation from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in recognition of its technological prowess.

Not only the general public but also local governments, academia, and industry showed great interest, and overseas experts and buyers from the US, Estonia, Hungary, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Laos, and Turkmenistan also participated in the experience, gave favorable reviews of the stable operation, and discussed technical and business cooperation.

Currently in the process of raising Series A investment, Sonnet plans to actively advance into the domestic and international autonomous driving markets, as well as the B2B market, such as smart ports and autonomous trains.
