Semiconductor Association: “We welcome measures to support the semiconductor ecosystem”
Published2024.11.27 14:25The semiconductor industry welcomed the government's announcement of the 'Semiconductor Ecosystem Support Strengthening Measures' on the 27th.
The Korea Semiconductor Industry Association stated that the semiconductor industry is facing various challenges such as rapidly changing domestic and international environments and uncertainties, while also playing an active role in national economic growth, with the highest export performance ever expected this year. Following the announcement of the 'Comprehensive Support Plan for the Semiconductor Ecosystem' on June 26, the 'Semiconductor Ecosystem Support Strengthening Plan' encompassing fiscal, tax, financial, and infrastructure support is expected to be of great help to our companies in overcoming domestic and international uncertainties.
He also expressed his gratitude for the government’s meticulous attention and support from the early discussions on building the Yongin Cluster to today’s agreement ceremony to support infrastructure essential to the semiconductor industry, such as electricity and water, and expressed his gratitude for the many discussions taking place in the National Assembly recently to support the semiconductor industry. He also said that the semiconductor industry will continue to make active efforts to contribute even more to the people and the national economy.

한국반도체산업협회는 12일 경기도 판교 반도체산업협회 회관에서 ‘제 18회 대한민국 반도체 설계대전’ 시상식을 개최했다. 안세진 산업통상자원부 전자부품과장, 허염 실리콘마이터스 대표, 손보익 실리콘웍스 대표 및 한국센서학회, 대한전자공학회 등 유관기관 인사들이 참석한 가운데 총 13개팀의 수상작에 대해 시상했다. 협회는 올해 설계대전부터 대학 석박사생 외에 학부생도 참여할 수 있도록 개방했다. 또한 기업 부문 특별상을 신설, 올해는 삼성전자, SK하이닉스, 실리콘마이터스, 실리콘웍스가 포상에 동참했다. 협회는 향후 기업특별상 수를 확대해 나갈 예정이다.

Marking the 10th Semiconductor Day, “Ecosystem Must Be Strengthened as the Semiconductor Industry Grows”
The Korea Semiconductor Industry Association held the 10th Semiconductor Day commemoration ceremony on the 26th at the Intercontinental Hotel COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul, and honored the achievements of 62 semiconductor industry professionals who have contributed to the development of the semiconductor industry. The commemoration ceremony, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association, was attended by approximately 500 industry figures, including Baek Un-gyu, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy; Park Sung-wook, Chairman of the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association (Vice Chairman of SK Hynix); Jin Gyo-young, Senior Vice President of Samsung Electronics; Choi Chang-sik, CEO of Dongbu HiTek; and Park Kyung-soo, CEO of PSK. Semiconductor Day was established in 2008 to commemorate October 29, 1994, when semiconductor exports surpassed 10 billion dollars for the first time. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Semiconductor Day this year, the Semiconductor Association adopted the slogan "Semiconductors connect all values." As the core foundational technology of the Fourth Industrial Revolution era, semiconductors represent the slogan's meaning of processing vast amounts of data faster and more precisely, expanding those connections, and linking industries to industries, people to people, and generations to generations.

Strengthening the Korea-US Semiconductor Supply Chain
한·미 간 반도체 공급망 연대 강화를 위한 「한-미 공급망·산업대화 반도체포럼」이 한·미 반도체협회 공동주관으로 27일 미국 워싱턴 D.C.에서 개최됐다. 한국 산업통상자원부 안덕근 장관 및 미국 상무부 장관 지나 러몬도(Gina Raimondo)의 개회사로 시작된 동 포럼에서 삼성전자, SK하이닉스, Intel, Qualcomm 등 한미 반도체 대표기업이 참석해 반도체 산업이 직면하고 있는 도전과제인 △기술혁신 한계극복 △우수 인력수급 △공급망 안정화에 대해 현황을 점검하고 이를 해결하기 위한 양국간 협력 강화 방안을 논의했다. 동 포럼에서 양국 반도체산업협회는 반도체 공급망 협력을 강화하기 위한 양해각서(MOU)를 체결했다.
