The HDMI2C1 series features active pull-up functionality on all Display Data Channel (DDC) lines to maintain UHD signal integrity and minimize dependence on HDMI cable quality. Additionally, integrated ESD protection increases bandwidth to 10 GHz, allowing high-speed 4K signals to pass through without distortion. Meanwhile, the clamping voltage is low at 10 V and the response time is fast at 30 ns, preventing sudden transients from damaging the latest HDMI chips produced using ESD-sensitive deep-nanometer process technology.

Using the HDMI2C1 chip can save 80% of the PC board space occupied by individual protection components and accelerate the launch of fast-cycle consumer electronics such as UHD set-top boxes and Blu-ray players. Pin allocation is optimized for single-layer and two-layer economical boards.

Features added to the HDMI2C1 series include a 5V LDO (low-dropout) regulator with short-circuit and overheat protection, and a level shifter with back-drive protection for HDMI DDC, CEC (Consumer Electronic Control), and Hot-Plug Detect (HPD) lines. A total of four versions are available, among which the HDMI2C1-6C1 enhances design flexibility by protecting against external ESD on HDMI data lines and performing common mode filtering (ST's ECMF™ series).

HDMI2C1-14HD, HDMI2C1-14HDS, HDMI2C2-14HD, and HDMI2C1-6C1 are supplied in QFN-36L or μQFN-18L packages. HDMI2C1-14HDS starts at 63 cents for orders of 100, and HDMI2C1-6C1 starts at 50 cents.
