Rainbow Robotics (CEO Lee Jeong-ho), a company specializing in robot platforms, has been finally selected as the Phase 1 implementing agency for the '2025 1st Korean ARPA-H Project' organized by the K-Health Future Promotion Team under the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Through the project titled 'Development of a Humanoid Physical AI-based Surgical Assistance Robot for Creating an Efficient Surgical Environment,' they have begun full-scale development of a mobile dual-arm medical robot.

The Korean ARPA-H is a strategic healthcare R&D project modeled after the U.S. ARPA-H (Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health), and is driven by five major missions: health security, unconquered diseases, biohealth super-gap technology, improvement of welfare and care, and innovation in essential medical care. This project will receive a total of 17.5 billion won in government funding and will be operated under a phased competitive system for five years, from July 2025 to December 2029.

The project in which Rainbow Robotics is participating falls under the field of 'essential medical innovation' and aims to develop a medical dual-arm robot system capable of assisting with repetitive and precise tasks in a hospital operating room environment. In particular, the key is to go beyond simple automation and implement autonomous assistance functions by applying physical AI technology capable of recognizing and predicting the surgical context of medical staff in real time.

In Phase 1, more than 15 consortia from across the country applied, and the Samsung Seoul Hospital, Seoul National University Hospital, and Pusan National University Hospital consortiums were selected, with the hospitals participating as lead organizations. Rainbow Robotics is participating as a technology partner for the Samsung Seoul Hospital consortium and is responsible for developing robot hardware.

Rainbow Robotics is participating in the development of core technologies based on its mobile dual-arm robot platform technology, including defining platform specifications suitable for surgical environments, deriving controller and interface requirements, designing surgical grippers and dexterous hands, and quality-based design consulting.
