Siemens Digital Industries Software and HD Hyundai have joined forces to combine industrial software and advanced engineering to improve shipyard operational efficiency and design precision.

Siemens Digital Industries Software and HD Hyundai announced on the 4th that they have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to modernize and enhance the competitiveness of the U.S. shipbuilding industry.

This collaboration aims to combine digital technologies and advanced engineering to enhance automation and workforce capabilities in U.S. shipyards and increase the resilience of the industry's foundation.

Siemens plans to transform how U.S. shipyards operate and produce ships with its industrial software platform, Siemens Xcelerator. In particular, it improves production efficiency and design precision by applying digital twin, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and product lifecycle management (PLM) technologies.

HD Hyundai will leverage its world-class shipbuilding technology and automation expertise to provide practical support for the digital transformation of U.S. shipyards. Expert companies within the group, including HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, HD Hyundai Samho, and HD Hyundai Mipo, will participate in this collaboration, and the company plans to jointly develop workforce development and education programs in the U.S.

This agreement aligns with U.S. maritime policy and includes joint initiatives aligned with strategic priorities such as cybersecurity, industry resilience, and workforce restructuring. Through pilot projects, the two companies will validate digital workflows and platform configurations, and explore potential for future commercialization and global expansion.
