SUSE®, a leading global open source solutions company, has enhanced operational efficiency, security, and stability with the industry's first Linux to integrate agentic AI.

On the 4th, SUSE officially announced SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 16, the industry's first enterprise Linux that integrates Agentic AI.

This new product is designed to significantly increase operational efficiency and automation, enabling businesses to simultaneously reduce operating costs, reduce complexity, and accelerate time to market.

SLES 16 introduces agentic AI that implements the Model Context Protocol (MCP) standard, enabling secure integration with a variety of external tools and data sources without being tied to a specific AI vendor.

This allows enterprises to reduce operational burden and shorten response times to failures by leveraging AI-based local management from the Cockpit web console and command-line interface (CLI).

“CIOs and CTOs need to maximize the efficiency of their existing infrastructure through AI, and not pay the price of being locked into a single ecosystem,” said Rick Spencer, general manager of Business Critical Linux at SUSE. “SLES 16 is the first AI-ready Linux that can drive operational efficiencies without hiring new teams or building custom tool chains." he emphasized.

SLES 16 offers an industry-leading 16-year support lifecycle, ensuring stable use until 2038 and beyond.

It also minimizes downtime by enabling real-time rollback of upgrades, patches, and configuration changes, enables source-based verification and rebuilding, and provides a development process based on the highest level of security certification (EAL4+) along with SBOMs.

Additionally, it reduces the barrier to adoption by reducing the technology gap when switching from other distributions, and it connects to various large-scale language models without being tied to a specific vendor.

SLES 16 will be available to customers and partners starting November 4, 2025. This release includes the following product families: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 16, SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension 16, and SUSE Linux Micro 6.2.
