Mouser Electronics, a global authorized distributor, announced the winners of its Create the Future Design Contest, a global competition for engineers and innovators from around the world.


Mouser has sponsored the contest for over a decade and is a co-sponsor this year alongside key manufacturing partners Intel® and Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI).

The event was hosted by SAE Media Group and Tech Briefs magazine, with COMSOL as a major sponsor.

The grand prize went to John La Grou of Diamond Springs, California, who presented 'imersiv', an innovative technology that can improve audio performance by 100 times over existing top-of-the-line equipment.

This technology has garnered great expectations due to its potential applications in various fields, including acoustic engineering, space exploration, and medical imaging. John LaGrue received the grand prize and a $25,000 cash prize.

In addition to the grand prize, first place winners were selected in seven categories at this competition.

In aerospace and defense, Silent Sentry won for its software-defined passive sensor for stealth detection and enhanced battlefield survivability, and in automotive and transportation, it won for its implementation of a near-zero-emission diesel engine.

In electronics, Plastalyst won for its chemical recycling technology, and in energy, power and propulsion, Rev Force won for its ultra-efficient hydrogen combustion for environmentally friendly distributed power and propulsion systems.

In manufacturing and materials, REACT® won for its capsule recycling automation technology for the circular coffee industry, and in healthcare, the next-generation biosignal based on blood viscosity – wearable innovation technology for trauma, sepsis, and vascular health management – won.

In robotics and automation, Woodpeckr won for its innovation in utility construction methods.

The 'Design Contest to Open the Future' has been held since 2002 by Tech Brief magazine with the goal of improving the quality of life, improving healthcare services, and providing sustainable solutions.

Previous competitions have received over 16,000 design ideas from engineers, entrepreneurs and students from over 100 countries.The project was submitted and established as a global innovation platform.
