The semiconductor industry welcomed the "AI Era Semiconductor Industry Strategy," jointly announced by relevant ministries on the 10th.

On the 10th, the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association distributed a welcome statement announcing the semiconductor industry strategy for the AI era.

According to the welcoming statement, the industry evaluated this strategy as having great significance in that it systematically presented the vision and goals of the Korean semiconductor industry and national response tasks in a situation where the global competition for AI hegemony is unfolding into an all-out war between nations.

He also stated, “Structural environmental changes are underway that are difficult to respond to through corporate efforts alone, such as the spread of AI technology, large-scale investment competition, and increasing uncertainty in the supply chain,” and “This strategy is highly evaluated as a comprehensive response strategy at the national level that broadly reflects the needs of the industrial field.”

The industry expects that key tasks, including securing semiconductor technology and production leadership in the AI era, strengthening the system semiconductor ecosystem, strengthening small and medium-sized business capabilities and fostering high-quality talent, and establishing a semiconductor innovation belt in the southern region, will serve as the foundation for structurally enhancing Korea's semiconductor competitiveness.

In particular, as the appropriate response to the AI era is crucial to the advancement of the semiconductor industry, we requested the government's continued interest and support to ensure that planned investments and industrial complex development can proceed without a hitch.

The industry anticipates that if this strategy is implemented, the semiconductor industry will play a greater role in economic growth and job creation. They also expressed their commitment to working closely with the government in implementing the strategy going forward.
