STMicroelectronics (ST), a global semiconductor company, has optimized industrial sites with intelligent power switches that automatically adjust inrush current and provide flexible current limiting functions.
ST announced today its new IPS1050LQ low-side switch IC, which promises to revolutionize industrial automation and power management.
This product features automatic inrush current adjustment and intelligent current limiting technology, enabling stable control of resistive, capacitive, and inductive loads.
IPS1050LQ supports static mode and dynamic mode. In static mode, the current limit can be set via an external resistor or a microcontroller GPIO port, with a total of eight current values selectable.
In dynamic mode, the initial inrush current of up to 25 A is safely handled through capacitor connection, and then gradually reduced to reach the desired operating current.
This ensures stable operation in various industrial equipment such as PLCs, factory automation, and CNC machines.
Based on ST's proven M0T5 VIPower technology, the IPS1050LQ delivers low on-resistance of RDS(on) 25mΩ for energy-efficient switching.
It also meets the IEC 60947-5-1 DC-13 load specification and supports fast demagnetization of inductive loads with active clamping function.
Built-in protection features include undervoltage, overvoltage, overload, short circuit, ground isolation, Vcc isolation, and overtemperature protection, ensuring the stability and reliability required in industrial environments.
Developers can easily explore the diagnostic and operational capabilities of the IPS1050LQ using the X-NUCLEO-DOL10A1 expansion card for STM32 Nucleo development boards.
It also enables multi-channel module evaluation by stacking multiple cards, providing an environment optimized for the development of industrial IoT, smart factories, and automation systems.
The IPS1050LQ is currently in mass production in a 6mm x 6mm QFN32L package, priced starting at $2.19 in quantities of 1,000 units, making it an attractive option for industrial customers seeking a high-performance, low-cost solution.

Global semiconductor company STMicroelectronics (hereinafter ST) conducted the STEM your way program at Dankook University's Jukjeon Campus on the 3rd. The participating students directly examined SiC power semiconductors and IGBT modules, and gained significant outcomes by conducting hands-on training on STM32-based embedded development with field engineers.
