Mouser Electronics, a global electronics distributor, helps simplify mobile robotics design.

Mouser announced on the 24th that it will supply NXP Semiconductors' MR-VMU-RT1176 Vehicle Management Unit (VMU) to the domestic market.

This new product is a lightweight, all-in-one controller developed with the goal of simplifying the design of next-generation mobile robotics. It is characterized by its applicability to various industrial fields such as factory automation, robotics, UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), smart homes, and agricultural equipment.

The MR-VMU-RT1176 VMU is based on NXP's high-performance crossover MCU, the i.MX RT1176.

This MCU features a 1GHz Arm Cortex-M7 and 400MHz Cortex-M4 dual-core architecture, providing stable performance even in complex mobile robotics applications.

Additionally, it has a built-in multi-sensor-based IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) for motion tracking and environmental awareness, enhancing the robot's precision control and real-time responsiveness.

Communication and scalability are also strengths.

The MR-VMU-RT1176 supports various interfaces including 2-wire 100Base-T1 Ethernet, USB Type-C 2.0, I2C, SPI, RC, GPS, and JST-GH pins, which are Dronecode standard. The adoption of headers has improved compatibility with drone and robot platforms.

It provides multiple high-speed UARTs and 12 PWM outputs, allowing flexible configuration of various functions such as remote measurement, wireless communication, and motor control.

Developed as one of NXP's robotics reference designs, the MR-VMU-RT1176 VMU is designed to help developers bring robotics products to market faster and easier.

It is particularly compatible with open source real-time operating systems (RTOS) and robotics frameworks, allowing for easy integration into various environments such as Zephyr RTOS, Cognipilot, NuttX, and PX4.

It is also equipped with a structure that links with PX4-based QGroundControl, making it suitable for the development of drones and autonomous driving platforms.

Additionally, this VMU is provided in a form factor that complies with the PX4 V6X-RT specification, and adopts a modular architecture consisting of a compute module and a carrier board to enhance expandability and ease of maintenance.

It can be used with the MR-HGK-RT drone development kit that integrates with the NXP and Dronecode ecosystem, making it easy to set up a development environment.

With this product launch, Mouser provides developers in mobile robotics, industrial automation, and UAVs with a new solution that delivers high performance, scalability, and compatibility.
