Samsung Electronics is taking a step forward in the digital signage market with ultra-low power, eco-friendly technology through A4-sized color e-paper.

Samsung Electronics announced on the 30th that it will sequentially launch the 13-inch 'Samsung Color ePaper', which is equivalent to A4 size, around the world.

This new product expands the lineup following the existing 32-inch model, and boasts ultra-slim, ultra-light, and ultra-low-power digital signage.

The 13-inch model has a resolution of 1,600×1,200, a 4:3 screen ratio, is 8.6mm thick at its thinnest point, and weighs only 0.9kg including the battery.

It comes with a rechargeable, removable battery, a stand, and a ceiling-mounted bracket, allowing for flexible installation in various environments such as walls, ceilings, and tables.

The color ePaper is a digital ink-based, ultra-low-power display that consumes virtually no power when the screen is stationary.

This feature can significantly reduce power costs and maintenance burden in commercial billboards, exhibition and retail environments.

This 13-inch model is the world's first to use bio-resin based on plant plankton oil.

corresponding Bio-resin was introduced as being able to reduce carbon emissions by more than 40% during the manufacturing stage compared to existing petroleum-based resins by using plankton as raw material that absorbs carbon dioxide during the resin production process.

UL verified that the product cover is made of 45% recycled plastic and 10% plankton-based bioresin. The packaging is also made entirely of paper, enhancing its environmental friendliness.

Content playlist management and device control are possible through a color imaging algorithm, a picture quality optimization function, and a dedicated mobile app.

It also supports content creation/management and preview-based image quality optimization along with existing signage by linking with Samsung VXT, Samsung's integrated signage solution.

Samsung Electronics will unveil its first 20-inch model, which is equivalent to an A3 size, at ISE 2026 in Barcelona, Spain in February.

Market research firm Omdia forecasts that the global signage market will grow through 2029, with Samsung Electronics maintaining its lead in the industry with a 36.2% market share based on volume in the third quarter of 2025.

“We will introduce digital solutions that can replace paper through material and product innovations, such as the application of phytoplankton-based bio-resin,” said Kim Hyung-jae, vice president of Samsung Electronics’ visual display business division.
