Congatec has opened a research and development (R&D) center in Penang, Malaysia, to strengthen its customer support in the Asian region. Congatec announced the opening of its Asia Embedded R&D Center in Penang on the 3rd, expanding its embedded and edge computing capabilities in the region.
The establishment of this center is a measure to enhance technical support and development capabilities in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) market. Congatec chose Penang as part of its "Local for Local" strategy, which focuses on regional design, development, and support.
The newly launched R&D center integrates the engineering team of Kontron Asia Embedded Design.
Congatec has hired 23 embedded computing experts from Contron and plans to expand its workforce to approximately 70 in the future.
Through this, we have established an organization capable of simultaneously performing R&D and technical support functions in the APAC region from the beginning.
The center develops standard and custom embedded computing platforms. Along with x86 solutions based on Intel and AMD processors, the center also develops Arm-based COMs utilizing technologies from Qualcomm, TI, and NXP.
aReady, ready for immediate application. Expanding the functionality of embedded computing platforms is also a key priority.
The proven technology stack, including embedded vision, IoT connectivity, and system integration, aims to accelerate customers' design-in cycles and reduce non-recurring engineering (NRE) costs. Through this, congatec aims to strengthen its technical collaboration and support with customers across the APAC region.
