Snowflake announced on the 3rd that it had signed a $200 million strategic partnership with OpenAI. This collaboration aims to expand the adoption of AI agents across global enterprise companies and will be driven by joint innovation and go-to-market (GTM) strategies.
Through this partnership, OpenAI's generative AI models will be available on Snowflake's data and AI platform, Snowflake Cortex AI. This will allow enterprise customers to directly leverage OpenAI models within their data storage environments.
The service is supported across major cloud environments, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and serves approximately 12,600 Snowflake customers worldwide. Some global companies, including Canva and WHOOP, are already building AI applications and agents using OpenAI models within the Snowflake environment.
The two companies plan to pursue interoperability features, software development kit (SDK) integration, and joint workflows through engineering collaboration. This empowers enterprises to design and operate AI agents in governed data environments.
Additionally, OpenAI models, including GPT-5.2, will also be available through Snowflake Intelligence. Snowflake explained that it supports corporate AI utilization environments with a 99.99% service level agreement (SLA) and data governance features.
Snowflake believes that this collaboration will enable companies to expand the use of AI in data environments that take security and regulations into account, and OpenAI also believes that it will increase accessibility for building enterprise data-based AI applications.
