Wiro Robotics has dualized its research system by expanding its research infrastructure for humanoid robot development to Seoul. The company plans to increase the intensity of humanoid robot ALLEX development by establishing additional research space in Seoul while maintaining its existing research base in Cheonan.

On February 10, in Munjeong-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul, WE Robotics announced that it has expanded the research base of its Robot Innovation Hub (RIH) to Seoul as part of a mid-to-long-term investment in the development of humanoid robots. The newly opened research space is approximately 150 pyeong in size.

Since its initial opening in April 2025 at the Korea University of Technology and Education in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, RIH has been responsible for the research and development of core technologies for the humanoid robot ALLEX. Wiro Robotics has chosen a structure that disperses and complements its research infrastructure by maintaining this research base while establishing an additional base in Munjeong-dong, Seoul.

RIH-Seoul, established in Munjeong-dong, is a space specialized in the research and development of humanoid robots and aims to provide a research environment that takes into account the productization stage. The company presented a plan to gradually equip the facility with production lines for prototype manufacturing, equipment for durability testing and repetitive driving tests, and a data center for robot data collection, in addition to existing research facilities.

The division of roles among research bases was also clearly defined. The Gwanggyo office in Gyeonggi-do is responsible for the research and development and mass production of wearable robots, while the research base in Munjeong-dong, Seoul is responsible for research on next-generation robot technology centered on humanoid robots and production preparation functions.

Wiro Robotics has been expanding its contacts with global technology companies since unveiling its humanoid robot ALLEX at the recent CES. During the exhibition, representatives from numerous global technology firms showed interest in ALLEX, and it is reported that discussions regarding the possibility of technology cooperation and joint development took place with some of these companies.

Kim Yong-jae, co-CEO of Wiro Robotics, explained that this expansion of research infrastructure was a decision made to establish humanoid robots as a core element of the mid-to-long-term business roadmap.

Meanwhile, Wiro Robotics continues its business in overseas markets, including North America and Europe, centering on its wearable walking assistance robot WIM series, and this business continues based on existing bases.
