Vector Korea announced that it will expand its strategic investments in cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), and code-centric software development, and is building an integrated software ecosystem. This is seen as a strategy to address the growing demand for software-defined systems (SDS) development while expanding its customer base beyond the automotive industry to include medical technology, aerospace, and industrial IoT.
On February 12th, Vector Korea announced a comprehensive strategy and innovation program to address structural changes occurring across the software and automotive industries. The company explained that it is simultaneously investing in core technologies and enhancing its existing product portfolio.
As software and AI grow in importance across the manufacturing industry, including the automotive industry, analysts say the shift to a software-centric business model is demanding changes in development methods and organizational operations. In line with this trend, Vector is pursuing a transformation from an embedded software-centric company to an integrated "software ecosystem provider."
The company focuses on scalable software platform solutions and development tools that intelligently connect heterogeneous systems and data environments, and some of its technologies have begun field implementation with OEMs and industry partners. The company explains that by simplifying and accelerating development and integration across the entire lifecycle, it enables manufacturers to focus on application development and differentiating features.
Co-CEO Thomas Beck stated that an integrated software ecosystem is moving towards defining the development method, and that the company is focusing on building an end-to-end, modular, and scalable platform, a software factory, and development tools. Co-CEO Matthias Traub announced that the company will invest in core technologies as well as develop talent and organizational capabilities, explaining that more than 90% of the development organization is located in Germany. Based on this strategy, the company added that it will position itself as a partner supporting the development of software-defined systems in various industries beyond the automotive sector.
