Samsung Electronics is expanding user options by adding a new AI agent to its next-generation Galaxy flagship smartphone. The strategy is to enhance the integrated AI experience by enabling users to perform various tasks using only voice commands, without the need to launch individual applications.

On February 23, Samsung Electronics announced that it will equip its next Galaxy flagship devices with a new AI agent called 'Perplexity.' The company explained that by implementing the function based on an integrated AI platform, it is enhancing AI usability at the device level rather than at the app level.

The Perflexity AI agent can be activated by pressing the device's side button or through voice commands such as "Hey Flex." Users can perform tasks such as registering schedules or checking information using only voice commands, without having to directly launch individual apps like Samsung Notes, Gallery, or Reminders. For example, if you say, "Register me to watch Galaxy Unpacked 2026 at 3 AM on February 26," the schedule is registered without launching a separate app.

Samsung Electronics stated that these features were designed to minimize user input and maximize result efficiency. The increasing demand for personalized experiences as the use of AI in daily life expands was also cited as a contributing factor.

According to an online survey conducted by the company targeting 600 people in their 20s to 50s in Korea and the U.S., about 8 out of 10 mobile AI users utilize two or more AI agents. This is interpreted to mean that environments using multiple agents are becoming widespread.

Choi Won-joon, Head of Development and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Samsung Electronics’ MX Business Division, said, “We have been expanding the Galaxy AI ecosystem based on open collaboration,” adding, “We will integrate agents into the platform to enhance usability and promote the popularization of the AI experience.”
