AMD and Nutanix have joined forces to target the enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) market. The two companies have signed a multi-year strategic partnership to jointly develop an open, full-stack AI infrastructure platform that enables agentic AI applications to be deployed anywhere. This collaboration focuses on scalability and openness, spanning from data centers to hybrid and edge environments.

AMD announced today a multi-year strategic partnership with Nutanix to co-develop an open, full-stack AI infrastructure platform designed to run agentic AI applications anywhere.

Under the agreement, AMD will invest up to $150 million in Nutanix stock and provide up to an additional $100 million for joint research and development and market expansion.

Through this, the plan is to quickly commercialize an integrated AI solution that combines AMD's accelerated computing technology and Nutanix's cloud and Kubernetes platform.

AMD said its goal is to “give enterprise customers the freedom to choose the models and workloads they need without being locked into a specific vendor.”

The two companies will optimize the Nutanix cloud platform and Kubernetes platform based on AMD EPYC server CPUs and AMD Instinct GPUs, and integrate AMD ROCm software with the enterprise AI stack.

This provides an enterprise AI environment capable of high-performance inference acceleration, high-density computation, and integrated lifecycle management. It is particularly notable for its support from various OEM server partners, broadening customer choice.

Industry insiders say this collaboration is in line with the trend of corporate AI infrastructure being reorganized to focus on "inference."

As inference and agent-based applications in real-world service environments become more important than large-scale learning, open standards and interoperability are emerging as key to long-term competitiveness.

AMD and Nutanix are addressing these needs by offering a new AI infrastructure model that doesn't rely on vertically integrated stacks.

The first joint agentic AI platform is targeted for launch by the end of 2026.

The two companies expect this will enable enterprises and service providers to flexibly deploy open source and commercial AI models and easily scale intelligent applications across industries.

Nutanix emphasized, “We will reduce the burden of adoption for customers by providing AI infrastructure that can be directly applied to production environments.”

AMD plans to further strengthen its open AI ecosystem strategy through this partnership.
