Nordic Semiconductor, a company specializing in low-power wireless connectivity technology, has set out to target the entry-level market by introducing a new Bluetooth LE (System-on-Chip) product that prioritizes price competitiveness.

Nordic announced on the 16th that it is unveiling the ultra-low power Bluetooth LE SoCs nRF54LS05A and nRF54LS05B and expanding the existing nRF54L series.

This new product can be used as a main wireless processor in single-chip based systems and as a Bluetooth LE auxiliary device in multi-chip structures, providing flexibility for various product designs.

The two newly added SoCs are designed for relatively simple applications such as sensors, beacons, tags, remote controls, and PC peripherals, based on stable Bluetooth LE connectivity and low power consumption.

In particular, it is characterized by the fact that the development burden can be reduced by utilizing the Bluetooth LE technology and proven software environment that Nordic has accumulated over a long period of time.

Övind Ström, Senior Vice President of Nordic's Near Field Wireless Business Unit, stated, "This entry-level SoC is designed to enable developers to implement cost-effective products more quickly while maintaining performance stability," adding that "the price-sensitive Bluetooth LE "It will broaden the range of choices in the market," he said.

The nRF54LS05A and nRF54LS05B are based on a 128MHz Arm Cortex-M33 processor and feature low-leakage RAM to provide efficient computational performance even in small battery-based products.

Both products are equipped with 0.5MB of non-volatile memory, and their RAM capacities are differentiated at 64KB and 96KB, respectively.

In addition, it supports Nordic's 4th generation Bluetooth LE wireless technology and basic security features, and provides pin compatibility with some nRF54L series products, making future product expansion easy.

The bare metal option in the nRF Connect SDK and the seamless migration path from the nRF52 series are also factors that enhance development convenience.

This product is part of the nRF54L series, which supports various 2.4GHz wireless protocols including Bluetooth LE, Matter, Thread, and Zigbee. Through this, Nordic plans to strengthen its broad portfolio of wireless solutions ranging from entry-level to high-performance products.
