Leading companies and institutions in the domestic intelligent transportation systems (C-ITS) and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) sectors have joined forces to enhance traffic safety and foster the growth of the future transportation industry.

The 'Korea C-ITS Industry Council,' led by the industry, officially launched on the 8th and made clear its commitment to establishing a foundation for sustainable cooperation even amidst changes in the policy environment.

This consultative body was voluntarily formed to systematically gather voices from the industrial sector amidst weakening government policy continuity, and to simultaneously promote the expansion of traffic safety infrastructure and the strengthening of technological competitiveness.

It is planned to operate as a cooperative platform centered on public values such as protecting citizens' lives and enhancing road safety, going beyond the mere representation of interests.

The council sets the early establishment of C-ITS and V2X-based traffic safety systems as its core objective and strengthens cooperation among industry, academia, research institutes, and government.

To this end, joint research and opinion gathering for policy and institutional improvements, support for local government demonstration projects, and cooperation in technology and testing fields, We pursue various activities such as securing interoperability, holding seminars and forums, conducting joint research and development (R&D), and forming consortia.

In particular, the plan is to focus on serving as a communication channel that reflects the experiences and technical requirements of the industrial field into policy.

The council officially launched on April 8 by holding an inaugural general meeting attended by 15 organizations, and plans to complete administrative procedures by the end of this month.

It operates as a non-profit voluntary organization and focuses its activities on cooperation and joint projects among member companies.

The first CEO was Hong-jong Jeong, CEO of Waytiz, and Kwang-ju Choi, CEO of IT Telecom, and Ho-jun Kim, CEO of Etipos, were appointed as vice-CEOs.

The participating organizations are a total of 15 companies, including Waytiz Co., Ltd., IT Telecom Co., Ltd., Etipos Co., Ltd., Daebo Information & Communication Co., Ltd., Bamboos Co., Ltd., V2X1 Co., Ltd., Dyna Vista Co., Ltd., LG Electronics Co., Ltd., Telus Co., Ltd., Saesol Tech Co., Ltd., ECIS Co., Ltd., LIG Accuver Co., Ltd., Cest Co., Ltd., MPION Co., Ltd., and Autocrypt Co., Ltd.

CEO Jeong Hong-jong stated, “C-ITS is a core infrastructure that contributes to reducing traffic accidents and improving road operational efficiency, as well as the foundation for the advancement of autonomous driving technology,” adding, “We will create a cooperative structure where policy, technology, and demonstration are organically connected, with the industry at the center.”

He went on to emphasize, “The goal is to achieve tangible traffic safety results and industrial growth simultaneously.”

The industry expects the launch of this consultative body to strengthen the cooperative ecosystem of the domestic C-ITS industry and serve as a significant turning point for securing competitiveness in future mobility.
