The Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI) has unveiled a commemorative emblem and slogan to mark its 50th anniversary. Given that the symbols for the 50th anniversary were determined through public participation, this move is interpreted as signaling the start of commemorative projects scheduled for this year.

KERI announced that it has unveiled its 50th anniversary emblem and slogan ahead of 'Electricity Day' on April 9 and 10. The institute explained that it had previously conducted a public preference poll through its website and social media in February and March, with a total of 10,000 people participating.

The selected emblem features the number '50' using KERI's symbolic colors, blue and orange. Visual elements with a brushstroke feel were applied to enhance the commemorative nature, and the background contains icons symbolizing electricity, new and renewable energy, mobility, electric motors, batteries, and nano.

This configuration is interpreted as an attempt to showcase the research and development, testing and certification, and technology diffusion functions that the research institute has been carrying out. It is characterized by going beyond a simple commemorative design to visually encapsulate the institution's major research fields and roles.

The slogan has been set as “50 Years That Illuminated the World, 100 Years That Will Shine Even Brighter.” This phrase encapsulates the achievements of electrical technology research over the past 50 years and the direction for the future, reflecting both the institution’s history and future tasks.

KERI plans to sequentially showcase various events and content utilizing its emblem and slogan ahead of the main 50th anniversary event scheduled for this coming November. President Kim Nam-kyun stated that the symbols were unveiled to promote the value of electrical technology and the role of the institute on the occasion of Electricity Day.
