Data immutability technology extending to the DB layer
This agreement was signed on April 14, and its core is the combination of SKAI Worldwide's PostgreSQL-based DBMS 'AgensSQL' and OliveTech's WORM (Write Once Read Many) storage technology. The two companies are pursuing a plan to implement a structure at the database level where data is difficult to arbitrarily delete or modify once it has been written.
Agens SQL is a product introduced by SKAI Worldwide on its official website as an enterprise-grade relational DBMS based on PostgreSQL. OliveTech states in its materials that it provides WORM storage OS and secure storage solutions for public MyData.
WORM technology is utilized to ensure record retention and integrity by preventing stored data from being rewritten. This collaboration focuses on expanding the application scope of WORM technology from the storage and file levels to the DBMS domain.
The background for this lies in the public sector cloud migration policy. In October 2023, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced a plan to migrate public sector information resources to the cloud centered on cloud-native technology, and in February 2025, it finalized a project implementation plan to transition nine public information systems across seven agencies, including Government24, to cloud-native. The government has stated its plan to migrate more than 70% of new migration volume and more than 50% of existing systems to the cloud-native method starting in 2026. This agreement is interpreted as targeting the demand for securing data preservation and integrity in alignment with this migration trend.
This agreement is being pursued by combining domestic DBMS with domestic WORM storage technology, with sectors where the integrity of record management is critical, such as the public, financial, and medical industries, being cited as key targets for application. The company stated that, through this agreement, it plans to promote the development of related DBMS technology and the expansion of its application, focusing on industries where data integrity is critical.
