Wiro Robotics has announced the results of the trial operation for 'WIM Premium,' a subscription-based feature service for users of its walking assistance robot, 'WIM S.' The company is pursuing an expansion from a device-centric sales approach to a service model focused on feature updates.

Wiro Robotics announced the results of its 'WIM Premium' experience program on April 29. The program took place for approximately two weeks starting in mid-April at a walking exercise center in Songpa-gu, Seoul, and in a nearby outdoor space, with about 60 people reportedly participating.

WIM Premium is a subscription-based service that provides additional features to existing WIM S equipment. Users can activate these features via software updates without replacing the equipment, and the service operates on a recurring payment basis.

In terms of functionality, it is characterized by adjusting the assistance method according to the walking pattern. For example, it was explained that it includes features such as mitigating walking impact or smoothing movement, and applying different assistance intensities depending on the difference between left and right walking.

This service is interpreted as an attempt to expand beyond the structure of wearable robots that relied on existing hardware performance, by adjusting functions according to the user's condition. The company stated that it designed the functional configuration by reflecting accumulated user data and experience.

However, given that the scale of participation in the trial program is limited and long-term usage data has not been disclosed, it appears that further verification is required regarding the actual effectiveness of the service and its continued use.

Wiro Robotics plans to pursue the advancement of functions tailored to individual walking characteristics and the expansion of their scope of application in the future. Through this, the company intends to develop wearable robots into a form where functions are continuously updated.
