Hanwha Systems has been named to a global ESG evaluation index and received the highest rating among defense companies in the Asia-Pacific region. This marks the first time a South Korean defense company has been included in the index.

Hanwha Systems announced on the 6th that it has been selected for the 'Dow Jones Top Index (DJ BIC) Asia-Pacific' announced by S&P Global. This index was established by restructuring the existing Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), and inclusion is determined by comprehensively evaluating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors along with a company's financial performance.

The evaluation covers the top 600 major companies in the Asia-Pacific region, and only the top 20% of companies by industry are included in the index. Among them, Hanwha Systems ranked first in the region by recording the highest score in the aerospace and defense sector.

In the detailed categories, it was found that the evaluation was evenly distributed across major ESG areas, including human rights management, environmental policy, safety and health systems, and supply chain management. This is interpreted as a result reflecting the establishment of responsible management and a management system throughout overall corporate operations.

The company plans to leverage this acquisition to expand trust with global investors and stakeholders and broaden overseas business opportunities. The strategy is to strengthen its competitiveness in the field amidst the trend of utilizing ESG factors as investment criteria.

Meanwhile, Hanwha Systems maintains stable performance in domestic and international ESG evaluations. It has received an overall A grade for five consecutive years from the Korea ESG Standards Board and has achieved the highest rating of AAA from Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI). Last year, it became the first domestic defense company to be included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Korea.
