IMG Base has introduced a feature to VDIT that automatically recognizes moving faces in videos and applies mosaic processing.

IMG Base announced on May 12 that it has released the v4.0.0 update for its video editing application VDIT for iOS and has newly applied an AI-based face detection mosaic feature.

The key feature of this update is the ability to automatically recognize the faces of multiple people in a video and maintain a mosaic effect along their movement paths. Previously, users had to manually select each target and adjust their positions, but the application of an automatic tracking method has simplified the editing process.

This feature allows users to quickly obscure the faces of others in vlogs or event recordings, making it easier to address portrait rights issues that may arise after filming. Notably, it is designed so that all processing takes place internally on the device rather than on an external server, which reduces the risk of video data leakage.

This enhancement of features aligns with the growing need to protect portrait rights as the frequency of video production by general users increases alongside the spread of social media. With the increasing number of instances where videos involving an unspecified number of people are shared, there is a growing demand for simple yet reliable editing tools.

With this update, the company has also expanded the mosaic effect options. Users can adjust the form, intensity, and size of the effect to suit the situation, and a feature has been added to reverse the application range based on a specific area. This is interpreted as a measure to enhance usability in editing environments where it is necessary to distinguish between highlighted subjects and non-exposed areas.

The editing interface has also been improved. Accessibility has been enhanced by reorganizing the home screen structure and placing frequently used functions at the forefront, while the video production process has been streamlined through template features.
