Samsung Electronics Establishes 'RX Business Promotion Office' Directly Under the CEO
Published2026.07.21 11:03Samsung Electronics announced on the 21st that it is establishing the 'RX (Robotics eXperience) Business Promotion Office' directly under the CEO.
They explained that they plan to create business opportunities by consolidating the robot-related capabilities and technologies accumulated company-wide into a single organization.
The RX Project Promotion Office will consolidate and deploy robot-related personnel, using the Seoul R&D Campus in Umyeon-dong, Seoul, as its main base.
We also plan to continue investing in expanding business infrastructure, such as offices and laboratories.
To enhance data utilization, a data factory will be established at the Gumi plant to lay the foundation for field deployment of robots, and robot intelligence and control advancements will be pursued through collaboration with research organizations at the Seoul R&D Campus.
The plan is to establish overseas research bases in the United States, China, and Japan—countries where robot technology is rapidly advancing—to leverage local specialized technologies and ecosystems and secure top talent.
There are also changes in the workforce composition.
Lee Dong-gun, Vice President of the Planning Team at Samsung Electronics, who led the robot strategy including the operational direction of Boston Dynamics at Hyundai Motor Group, has been appointed as the Head of the Robotics Strategy Team and will be responsible for the mid-to-long-term robot business roadmap.
External researchers will also join.
Professor Hyun-Jin Kim of Seoul National University, specializing in intelligent autonomous robot systems and robot control, and Professor Eui-Kyum Kim of Ajou University, specializing in robot hand and manipulation, are scheduled to participate in the RX Project Promotion Office.
Samsung Electronics announced that it plans to continuously expand its commercialization capabilities by recruiting additional experts in various fields in the future.

Samsung Electronics' youth AI and SW education program SSAFY has produced its 14th cohort of graduates. The program has achieved nearly 10,000 cumulative placements with an approximately 85% employment rate. This year, 60% of the curriculum (1,025 hours) was concentrated on AI practical training, establishing a system for nurturing 'AI Native talent.' Graduates developed a security robot based on VLA models, a 3D body model generation service, and an AI-based financial crime prevention solution, with approximately 840 graduates securing positions across the five major banks.
