The Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS) and the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI) held a joint academic event to simultaneously promote the presentation of research achievements by graduate students affiliated with UST and exchanges with local industries. This is interpreted as an attempt by science and engineering research institutions to link research personnel training processes with on-site industrial networks.

The Korea Institute of Materials Science announced that it held the '2026 UST-KIMS·KERI Joint Academic Festival' with the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI) at the KIMS headquarters in Changwon, Gyeongnam on the 15th. The event provided a venue for UST students affiliated with KIMS and KERI to present their research achievements and interact with local industry officials.

This academic festival was jointly organized by two research institutes that operate the Campus School of the University of Science and Technology (UST).

UST is a graduate school system where government-funded research institutes serve as campuses, and students complete their degree programs while conducting experiments and research at their affiliated research institutes.

This event was planned as an opportunity for students from both institutions to share their research status and expand their contact with local industrial sites.

Yoon Hee-sook, Head of the Bio-Health Materials Research Division at the Korea Institute of Materials Science, serves as the representative professor for the UST-KIMS School and is in charge of inquiries regarding this academic festival.
