Camera for Both Humans and Machines: ST BrightSense 5MP Dual Shutter Image Sensor
Video consumed by humans and imagery analyzed by machines impose different requirements on the sensor in terms of shutter method and wavelength band. Until now, sensors had to be separated or supplemented with companion chips and high-performance processors, and this cost and complexity became a bottleneck in vision system design. The ST BrightSense next-generation 5MP image sensor (VD5943, VD1943, VB5943, VB1943) with 2.25 µm pixels supports both global and rolling shutters, and through on-chip staggered HDR (up to 100 dB), on-chip RGB-IR separation and 5MP NIR smart upscaling, and frame-by-frame context switching, absorbs both requirements internally at the sensor level. This white paper describes the rationale, choices, trade-offs, and results of each design decision based on presentation slides and technical Q&A, and specifies application boundaries. The product is scheduled for mass production in February 2026, and evaluation and sampling are currently available.

Practical Application of ESP32 Arduino Development Environment: From GPIO to Web Server
This white paper, based on the presentation slides and technical Q&A from the e4ds-hosted webinar "Completing Your Own IoT System with ESP32," explains five fundamental hands-on exercises for working with ESP32 on the Arduino platform (GPIO input/output, serial debug, UART communication, Bluetooth SPP, Wi-Fi web server) from a design decision perspective. Each exercise is organized around causality—identifying what problem prompted it, what was chosen, and what was sacrificed—and boundary conditions that must be verified during the productization phase, such as power consumption, electrical protection, security, and OTA, are explicitly stated based on technical Q&A.

AMD Unveils "Helion," Open Rack Infrastructure for Agentic AI Era
AMD unveiled "Helion," an open-rack scale infrastructure platform designed to address the agentic AI era, at the OCP Summit. Helion adopts an OCP-based open design that allows flexible combination of CPUs and GPUs tailored to workloads, providing flexibility without vendor lock-in. Targeting both hyperscale data centers and enterprise environments, it enhances performance and cost efficiency by distributing AI model calls effectively through an integrated token router. AMD is advancing this as an open ecosystem strategy and plans to collaborate with major infrastructure companies.

SUSE, Supporting Korea Rail Network Corporation's Linux Infrastructure Modernization
SUSE supported Korea Rail Network Corporation's Linux infrastructure modernization, achieving 73% reduction in OS maintenance costs and 50% reduction in total cost of ownership (TCO). Over 200 servers were standardized on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, and a cloud-native environment was established where Kubernetes and virtual machines are managed through a single control plane using Rancher Prime. The organization secured 16 years of long-term technical support and a failure response system within 2 hours.

Gartner: Global PC Shipments in 3Q26 Plummet 22.4%...Lowest Since Early 2023
Gartner announced that global PC shipments in the third quarter of 2026 totaled 55.4 million units, representing a sharp 22.4% decline year-over-year. As DRAM costs surged fivefold, supply of low-cost products contracted while demand concentrated on high-end products. All top manufacturers experienced declines; however, Apple's decrease was limited to 7.1%, raising its market share from 8.8% to 10.5%. Companies are increasingly concentrating selective investments in AI PCs and workstations.
