On the 6th, Cloudflare unveiled Cloudflare Wallets and cloudflare.pay, which provide stable identity for AI agents deployed on its platform and enable online payments within user-set limits. The company explained that the current internet environment is designed around humans, making it difficult to reliably distinguish between AI agents acting on behalf of actual customers and system abuse behavior. Existing bot detection technologies focus on search crawler identification, limiting their capability to identify AI agents as transaction principals.

 

Matthew Prince, Cloudflare CEO and co-founder, stated, "When an AI agent sends a request, we need to be able to verify who sent that agent," and added, "We are providing the identity and payment infrastructure necessary for the agent internet to function properly."

 

 

Cloudflare Wallets assigns a unique identifier in the form of a web address (Handle) per account, serving as the foundation for verifying AI agent identity. Users can link their identity to a specific AI agent, and requesting businesses can verify the approval principal of the request.

 

The wallet structure consists of two tiers. The 'Account Wallet' functions as a central wallet responsible for receiving, holding, and managing stablecoins, while each individual AI agent is assigned a 'Virtual Wallet.' The Virtual Wallet has default settings including spending limits, approved merchant lists, and maximum transaction amount functionality, enabling users to directly control the spending scope of their AI agents. Cloudflare Wallets and the identity system integrate with the Monetization Gateway to connect both sides of the payment ecosystem, the company stated.

 

Currently, unique identifier pre-registration is underway, with full functionality including fund onramping, offramping, and virtual wallet issuance expected to be provided within the coming months.
