Security specialist Maestro Forensics Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Jong-gwang) has unveiled next-generation forensic solutions to respond to new types of digital crimes emerging as generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI smart glasses proliferate.
Maestro Forensics held a press conference at its headquarters on the 13th and announced MAESTRO WiSDOM AI Glasses Forensics and MAESTRO WiSDOM Generative AI Forensics, stating it will establish new standards in AI-based criminal investigation environments.
Recently, generative AI has established itself as a key technology driving business innovation, but simultaneously crime techniques are becoming increasingly sophisticated.
Popular generative AI services such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude provide diverse functions including image generation, document writing, and voice analysis, while cases of misuse in investment fraud, deepfakes, AI phishing, and fabricated content creation are rapidly increasing.
CEO Kim Jong-gwang stated, "AI is becoming a new crime tool for criminals," and diagnosed that "it is difficult to effectively track such crimes with existing digital forensics systems alone."
In particular, CEO Kim Jong-gwang emphasized that the key evidence in generative AI crimes is not simply the output but the user's "query and response records."
In actual criminal investigations, questions left in AI services can become conclusive evidence proving criminal intent.
In cases of crimes exploiting generative AI, not only the final image or document but also what questions were asked, what files were uploaded, and what outputs were generated must be traced to reconstruct the entire crime process.
The MAESTRO WiSDOM GenAI disclosed this time was developed to meet these investigative needs.
The solution is designed to collect and analyze usage traces from major generative AI services such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude.
It performs integrated analysis of AI service access logs, user account information, question and answer history, generated images, and uploaded/downloaded files, and enables correlation analysis even when multiple AI services are used simultaneously.
Through this, the production processes of various generative AI crimes such as deepfake video creation, fraudulent image generation, AI-based investment fraud, and document forgery can be three-dimensionally reconstructed.
Maestro Forensics has also focused on the rapidly emerging AI smart glasses crimes.
According to the company, AI smart glasses are wearable devices equipped with cameras, microphones, speakers, and AI assistant functions with high utility, but carry significant risk of being exploited for illegal filming, personal information infringement, and exam fraud.
The press conference introduced actual cases of detecting exam fraud using smart glasses and illegal filming cases, with projections that related crimes will increase as deployment expands.
In response, MAESTRO WiSDOM AI Glasses was developed to analyze smartphone data linked with AI smart glasses and track user activities.
It can analyze captured photos and videos, voice data, location information, movement paths, AI assistant usage records, and query-response history, while processing over 500 types of digital evidence including mobile artifacts.
In the analysis process, photo/video capture time and location, SNS upload history, and even what questions the user asked the AI glasses can be verified.
In particular, the location-based timeline analysis function enables visual reconstruction of the suspect's movement path and filming activities.
Additionally, by automatically extracting text within photos using OCR function, it enables rapid verification of personal information leakage or industrial secret photography.
CEO Kim Jong-gwang emphasized that while AI glasses have significant potential in industrial sites, logistics, medical, and disability assistance fields, preparedness against risks of corporate secret leakage and privacy violation is also necessary.
Both solutions have been integrated into MAESTRO WiSDOM, the existing comprehensive digital forensics platform.
This platform has expanded analysis scope to Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS as well as AI smart glasses, generative AI services, and cloud environments, and can perform cross-correlation analysis on over 1,500 digital artifacts.
CEO Kim Jong-gwang explained that evidence identification and analysis over 5 times faster than conventional methods is possible through this.
CEO Kim Jong-gwang stated, "Digital crimes are spreading beyond PCs and smartphones to AI smart glasses and generative AI services," and "investigation agencies and corporate security organizations now need new forensic technologies capable of analyzing digital evidence generated in AI environments."
