Electronic components distributor Mouser Electronics has begun supplying MediaTek's generative AI-enabled IoT platform 'Genio 420'. Built on a 6nm process, this platform supports both low-power edge AI processing and on-device generative AI simultaneously, targeting embedded applications such as home automation and smart appliances as its primary application fields.

 

Mouser officially announced the supply of MediaTek Genio 420 on the 18th. The platform supports Android, Yocto Linux, and Ubuntu operating systems and can be utilized in △home automation △smart appliances △commercial displays △digital signage, according to the company.

 

 

The Genio 420 is equipped with MediaTek's 8th generation Neural Processing Unit (NPU). Based on processing performance of 6.1TOPS for NPU alone and 7.2TOPS for the entire system, it performs AI inference tasks such as object detection, image classification, and speech recognition. Mouser noted that it also supports on-device execution of major large language models (LLMs).

 

The processor features an octa-core architecture comprising 2 Arm® Cortex®-A78 cores and 6 Arm Cortex-A55 cores. It is equipped with an Arm Mali™ G57 MC2 GPU and a single image signal processor, supporting dual 2.5K60 displays or an ultrawide 5K60 single display, and is capable of 4K video encoding and decoding.

 

 

In terms of wireless connectivity, it provides standard support for WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, and also offers expansion options for WiFi 7, 5G, and RedCap connectivity. Security features include △Arm TrustZone® △secure boot △encryption engine.
