Disclosure of Strategy to Reduce Power Consumption and Carbon Emissions in AI Infrastructure

AMD announced performance results in improving energy efficiency of artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. The company stated that as of mid-2026, AI energy efficiency has improved approximately 4x, exceeding its previous target.

On the 19th, AMD announced that AI energy efficiency has reached approximately 4x improvement, surpassing the original 3x enhancement target set for 2026.

The company explained that this achievement resulted from enhancing efficiency across the computing infrastructure required for AI training and inference. AMD stated that it has pursued efficiency improvements through a system-level approach encompassing semiconductors, memory, interconnects, software, and rack-scale system design.

The company explained that based on this, it is maintaining its target to improve the energy efficiency of rack-scale infrastructure for AI training and inference by 20x from 2024 to 2030.

AMD stated that as AI workloads expand, improvements in energy efficiency can help reduce power consumption, lower total cost of ownership (TCO), and alleviate cooling and infrastructure burdens.

The company also projected that if currently ongoing technology development proceeds as planned, by 2030, approximately 2 AMD AI racks could deliver computing performance comparable to 570 racks based on 2024 figures.

Accordingly, AMD anticipated that power consumption for representative AI training tasks could be reduced to one-twentieth of current levels, and carbon emissions could be reduced to one twenty-eighth of current levels.

AMD also disclosed its 2025-2026 Corporate Responsibility Report on this date.

According to the report, AMD reduced greenhouse gas emissions generated during operations by 30% from 2020 to 2025. The company also stated that 58% of electricity used across all global business sites was sourced from renewable energy.

The company explained that regarding supply chain management, it conducted responsible management audits on 99% of manufacturing partner factories.

AMD stated that it plans to pursue both energy efficiency improvements and sustainability enhancement as it expands AI infrastructure going forward.
