TI Korea (CEO Kent Chon, www.ti.com/kr) June 19, 2015 – TI (CEO Kent Chon) announced the launch of the new ARM® Cortex®-A9-based Sitara™ AM4376 processor, available starting at $7. The newly released AM4376 300MHz processor is a new pin-compatible product that retains the advantages of the existing AM437x family while offering cost-effective benefits. The AM437x processors integrate industrial protocols for automation and industrial drives, making them ideal for applications such as building automation, communications infrastructure, and industrial tools.

Key Features and Advantages of the Sitara AM437x Processor

· Provides junction temperature ranges for commercial (0–90°C), industrial (-40–90°C), and extended (-40–105°C) types.

· 4 pin-compatible and software-compatible processor options: AM4376, AM4377, AM4378, AM4379

The AM437x product family offers operating speeds of 300MHz, 800MHz, and 1GHz, and provides 3D graphics acceleration options for an enhanced user interface.

Like other Sitara AM4376 products in the AM437x family, the new AM4376 processor includes a Programmable Real-Time Unit and Industrial Communications Subsystem (PRU-ICSS) that offloads the workload from ARM, allowing developers to reduce costs and differentiate their designs. Since the PRU-ICSS can handle real-time operations typically performed by FPGAs in control systems, it can also replace expensive FPGAs. For example, by utilizing PRU technology to simultaneously implement industrial automation protocols and motor position feedback control protocols, applications requiring real-time control of motors, actuators, and sensors can be implemented without expensive FPGAs.

Developers can test Sitara AM437x processors using the AM437x Evaluation Module (EVM) or the AM437x Industrial Development Kit (IDK) and select the Sitara AM437x product best suited for their application. They can also test TI's processor SDK for Linux, as well as industrial software development kits for EtherCAT and position feedback control. Adeneo Embedded, a member of TI's developer network, is currently supplying Android KitKat 4.4.4 for the AM437x.

Price and Supply Timing

Currently, Sitara AM437x processors, including the new AM4376BZDND30 processor, are available for purchase in bulk for $7 and are available from authorized TI distributors. The general-purpose AM437x EVM (TMDXEVM437X) is available for $599 at the TI store, and the industrial development kit (TMDXIDK437X) is available for $329 at the TI store.
