Lars Reger , CTO ( Chief Technology Officer ) of NXP Semiconductors, a global semiconductor company, who visited Korea to participate in the keynote speech at the '2015 Automotive Innovation Day ' held on the 8th , urged that the government and companies should work together to address automotive security issues .

CTO Lars Reger, who participated in the panel discussion after his keynote speech that day, emphasized , “ Automotive OEMs are clearly aware of the security hacking problem, but they feel burdened by solving it alone . We need to recognize this problem together and respond together . ”

Chief Lee Jae-kwan: Urgent Need for Security Expert Training

Lee Jae-kwan, head of the Korea Automotive Technology Institute, pointed out , " Even though automotive security has emerged as a critical issue, there are no experts in Korea . While there are personnel researching security chips and software, there is a shortage of personnel handling overall security architecture and security system engineering . Therefore, there is an urgent need to cultivate specialized personnel in this field . "

Dr. Myung-hee Son of the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute also said , “ People who only know about cars do not know about security , and people who know about security do not know about cars . “Security professionals must have knowledge that encompasses automotive electronics, IT, and security ,” he said .

Furthermore, Director Lee Jae-kwan emphasized, “ Security issues are not just a problem for automobiles , but should be treated as a separate area and given importance . ” In terms of strengthening security technology competitiveness , Dr. Son Myung-hee said, “ Korea, a mobile powerhouse, could become more competitive if it fosters mobile service security technology for automobiles . ”
