LG Electronics announced that domestic sales of LG OLED TVs exceeded 15,000 units in the first half of the year.

The company announced that domestic sales of OLED TVs in the first half of this year increased more than tenfold compared to the same period last year.

In particular, the average monthly growth rate of Ultra OLED TVs, the highest premium TVs, exceeded 150%, and in May and June, sales of Ultra OLED TVs continued to rise to the point where they accounted for nearly 25% of total OLED TV sales.

LG Electronics evaluated that the overwhelming picture quality and innovative design of OLED TVs are leading to sales through word of mouth among experts as well as consumers.

OLED TVs won the 'Best of the Best' award at CES earlier this year, and were also selected as the best product tested this year by Reviewed.com, a review website operated by USA Today, the largest daily newspaper in the United States.

Samsung Electronics announced that domestic sales of its SUHD TV, which was first introduced in Korea in mid-February, exceeded 10,000 units by mid-May, just three months after its launch.

The company expects sales to continue strong after surpassing 10,000 units, and expects sales of 15,000 units in the first half of the year.

Additionally, from January to May, curved TVs and curved UHD TVs sold 52,000 and 36,000 units, respectively, representing a growth of more than five times compared to the same period last year. The proportion of large TVs over 55 inches in total TV sales also surged from 13% last year to 23%, continuing the rapid growth trend in the high-definition/large-screen premium product group.

In addition, the UK's top IT magazine 'What Hi-Fi' gave Samsung Electronics' SUHD TV a perfect score (5 stars) in a comparative evaluation of 55-inch UHD TVs, saying it was the best TV tested this year, and the German IT testing media 'Digital Tested' gave it a higher score (90% satisfaction) than OLED TV, praising its detailed description, color, and screen reproducibility.

According to an industry insider, "The surge in premium TV sales in the first half of the year appears to be due to word-of-mouth among consumers about advanced technologies, including their globally recognized picture quality. To maintain this momentum in the second half, we will need to approach the market with a diverse range of product lines and features tailored to each price range."
