July 23, 2015 – Linear Technology Corporation announces the LTM4622, a dual 2.5A or single 5A step-down µModule (micromodule) regulator in a tiny, ultra-thin package. It requires only three capacitors and two resistors and occupies less than 1cm2 for a single-sided PCB or 0.5cm2 for a double-sided PCB. Housed in a 6.25mm x 6.25mm x 1.82mm LGA package, the LTM4622 includes a switching DC/DC regulator, MOSFETs, inductor, and support circuitry. The ultra-thin package allows the LTM4622 to be mounted on the backside of the PCB, leaving space on the top side for components such as memory and FPGAs. These features make the LTM4622 ideal for advanced mezzanine cards (AMCs) for AdvancedTCA carrier cards in height-constrained systems such as PCIe and embedded computing systems.

With two independent 2.5A (3A peak) outputs, the LTM4622 can share up to 5A of load current. Multiple devices can share for even higher output current. The device has an input supply voltage of 3.6V to 20V and can be configured to operate from a 3.3V input supply. The LTM4622's output voltage range is 0.6V and 5.5V. Total output voltage DC accuracy is guaranteed to be ±1.5%, including load and line regulation, over the –40°C to 125°C temperature range.
