August 4, 2015 – Lattice Semiconductor (NASDAQ: LSCC), the leader in customizable smart connectivity solutions, today announced the world’s first superMHL products for the USB Type-C connector capable of simultaneously transmitting 4K 60fps RGB/4:4:4 video and USB 3.1 Gen1 or Gen2 data. The SiI8630 and SiI9396 are low-power superMHL™ transmitter and receiver products capable of transmitting and receiving 4K 60fps video over a single lane, enabling new PC experiences for USB Type-C devices.

SiI8630 – for mobile/PC markets

The SiI8630 transmitter seamlessly connects with HDMI® 2.0 transmitters already integrated into application processors (APs) used in the latest smartphones, tablets, and laptops. Because it includes an MHL switch, it can interface directly with USB 2.0-capable Type-C connectors without the need for a separate high-speed switch. When used with the Si7033, the SiI8630 provides a complete solution capable of simultaneously transmitting 4K 60 video and USB 3.1 Gen 1 data.

SiI9396 – for mobile/PC accessories and displays

The Sil9396 receiver is ideal for MHL adapters and docks. When used with the SiI7023 or SiI7033, it allows the design of MHL accessories that connect USB Type-C mobile and PC products to USB devices such as keyboards, mice, external storage devices, and HDMI displays. The SiI9396 receiver can be used in mobile devices and PCs equipped with a USB Type-C connector, as well as monitors, projectors, and TVs that connect to MHL and superMHL sources.

USB Type-C products using these solutions are expected to be compatible with over 750 million legacy MHL and future superMHL TVs, monitors, AVRs, Blu-ray Disc players, projectors, set-top boxes, and automotive products.

The SiI8630 and SiI9396 devices support the following features:
