Is there any way to open a lock without a key?

There is a case that is becoming a hot topic, showing that Bluetooth can be the best solution.
Nordic Semiconductor announces that Utah, USA-based Nok, a designer and manufacturer of smart lock technology, has selected Nordic's multi-award-winning nRF51822 System-on-Chip (SoC) for its Bluetooth locks.
The nRF51822SoC provides the Knock product with Bluetooth Smart wireless communication, enabling it to connect to any Bluetooth Smart Ready device.
Knock's products are the world's first Bluetooth locks that not only provide security without keys or number padlocks, but also allow owners to monitor and track who, when, and where the lock is being used through Knock's partner app.
Made of rugged steel and boron, the device can be used in any application where a traditional lock would be used, including bike and gym lockers, storage units, and cargo containers.
Nordic's Bluetooth Smart wireless technology allows users to open the lock without removing their smartphone from their pocket or bag, and the Knock app allows users to share access with others for one-time, permanent, or custom access. Owners can also check the history of locks, unlocks, shares, and withdrawals. The Quick Click tap code provides an override function when the user's smartphone is not present or the battery is dead.
Powered by a single coin-cell battery, the device boasts an extended battery life of more than 12 months thanks to the ultra-low power characteristics of the nRF51822.
“By utilizing Bluetooth Smart Wireless technology, all Knock locks allow users to quickly and easily access their belongings without the hassle and inconvenience of using keys or combination keys,” said David Gengler, Knock co-founder and CEO.
“We used Bluetooth Smart technology because of its ultra-low power consumption and stability,” said Gengler. “Nordic’s nRF51822 offered an excellent combination of cost, stability, and ease of use.”
Nordic's nRF51822 is a powerful and flexible multiprotocol SoC ideal for Bluetooth Smart and 2.4GHz ultra-low-power wireless applications. The nRF51822 features a 32-bit ARM Cortex M0 CPU, integrating 256kB/128kB flash and 32kB/16kB RAM. The embedded 2.4GHz transceiver is fully compliant with the latest Bluetooth Smart specification, Bluetooth v4.2.
Knock's Bluetooth lock is currently available for pre-order and will be commercially available starting in October 2015.
