Provides 12-bit color 8K 60fps video through superMHL technology

Lattice Semiconductor Corporation today announced the expansion of its video product line to support the superMHL™ and HDMI ^® specifications for advanced home appliances.

The new Sil9398 receiver and Sil9630 transmitter can transmit 8K 60fps video with 12-bit color via multi-lane superMHL technology. They also support HDMI 2.0 at 18Gbps. Both products offer key features such as High Dynamic Range (HDR) and an extended color gamut that allows you to transmit vivid picture quality from set-top boxes, game consoles, and media players to TVs and monitors over a single reversible cable.

The uses and functions of each of the two products are as follows.

SiI9398 – 2:1 Dual-Mode Video Receiver
The Sil9398 is a dual-mode video receiver, meaning that one receiver port can support superMHL or HDMI 2.0 signals while the other port can support HDMI 2.0 signals.

SiI9630 – Dual-Mode Video Transmitter
The Sil9630 is a dual-mode superMHL/HDMI video transmitter that supports 8K 60fps when used with the Sil9398 receiver. This product can also be used with previously released superMHL receivers such as the SiI9396 and SiI9779 .

“8K video solutions deliver an amazing audio/video experience to consumers,” said Marshall Goldberg, product marketing manager at Lattice Semiconductor. “Customers are demanding higher resolution, the widest color gamut, and HDR to develop home theater systems that support 4K and beyond.”

Evaluation kits for the SiI9630 and SiI9398 are expected to be available in the fourth quarter of this year.
