TI is launching a new low-power smart amplifier. The new TAS2555 enables developers to create next-generation smartphones that provide maximum audio quality while maximizing battery efficiency.

The TAS2555 Class H audio amplifier with speaker protection generates rich sound volume in small devices using back EMF and low power of 5.7W. TI has released integrated and non-integrated smart amplifiers, providing engineers with a wider range of design options.

The TAS2555 is the first low-power amplifier supported by the PurePath™ Console 3 software suite, which provides a path to meet diverse system requirements for everyone from novice developers to experienced designers. This solution enables rapid time-to-market in the smartphone, tablet, and other audio-enabled portable device markets by including tools that perform inference from speaker characteristics and facilitate tuning and integration into finished products.



It provides an output voltage of 5.7W at 4Ω and 3.8W at 8Ω at 4.2V, enabling louder and clearer audio. With an ICN of only 15.9µ, there is no audible speaker noise when using a smartphone in receiver or pause mode. The elimination of external components simplifies the design, and battery life is maximized by automatically adjusting audio output when battery voltage is low. Custom boost control allows for boost on/off adjustment based on the power profile requirements of the finished product. It features ^I2S output, which enables chip speaker protection and significantly reduces the time required for porting and integration, allowing finished product manufacturers to launch products more quickly.

TI provides a variety of intuitive design tools for the TAS2555 smart amplifier to accelerate time-to-market and streamline evaluation. Along with the PurePath Console 3 software suite, TI provides comprehensive Evaluation Modules (EVMs) and learning board tools for speaker evaluation.
