Achieve high I/O rates in a small form factor package

Xilinx announced the release of the Spartan® ^- 7 FPGA family, an I/O-intensive device for cost-sensitive applications.

This new product family is optimized for the industry-leading Vivado Design Suite and creates an IP-centric and system-centric development environment, reducing pressure on short development cycle requirements and time-to-market in cost-sensitive markets.

It can address connectivity requirements in various markets, including automotive, consumer, industrial Internet of Things (IoT), data centers, wired and wireless communications, and portable medical solutions. In addition, the new Spartan-7 FPGA comes with free support for ^Vivado® Design Suite WebPACK ^™ Edition and Vivado Design and System Editions, which can accelerate integration and implementation times.

The Spartan-7 FPGA family achieves high I/O rates in a small form factor package, making it highly suitable for cost-sensitive markets. In addition, it delivers up to four times better price-performance per watt than the previous generation to enhance flexible connectivity, interface bridge, and companion chip capabilities.

Kirk Saban, Senior Director of FGPA and SoC Product Management and Marketing at Xilinx, stated, “Xilinx has long been delivering cost-effective solutions with Spartan -class products,” and explained, “We have further expanded Xilinx’s generational leadership in I/O density, small form factor packaging, and power efficiency.”

The Spartan-7 FPGA family is also expected to expand the existing Xilinx 7 Series portfolio implemented in TSMC's 28nm HPL process.
