Mouser announced that it is providing USB Type-C™ building block solutions in collaboration with Fairchild, Littlefuse, and Amphenol Commercial Products.

USB Type-C technology, which interfaces easily and reliably with target devices and operates at a data transfer rate of 10Gbps and 100W of power, provides a multi-functional, single-cable solution for audio/video, data, and power. As Type-C technology supports hosts and devices for both data and power and provides a universal power cable solution, the range of application areas is expanding, from laptops and smartphones to flash drives and video systems.

Mouser provides a number of components necessary for engineers to incorporate this leading technology into new or existing designs.

Fairchild's USB Type-C portfolio is optimized for cost, footprint, and low power usage. The components in Fairchild's portfolio are up to 43% smaller in package size and consume 90% less power compared to the best competing solutions. These solutions include flexible discrete components ranging from controllers to power switches and USB 3.1 SuperSpeed switches.

USB devices not only deliver more power faster with a smaller chip size but also protect against transient electrical and overcurrent faults that can be fatal and complicated. The Little Huge USB 3.1 Type-C circuit protection device provides overcurrent and electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection while maintaining USB 3.1 Type-C data integrity.

Littlehuge circuit protection solutions include resettable PPTC (polymeric positive temperature coefficient) devices that provide overcurrent protection to power buses with enhanced capabilities. Additionally, diode array products that provide ultra-low power ESD protection for high-speed data lines help ensure signal integrity.

The connector provides a reversible plug and cable orientation, and supports scalable power charging with the 'USB Power Transfer Specification' and an extended 5A current range. The connectors are also compliant with the USB 3.1 protocol, which provides fast speeds of up to 10Gbps.
