“Edge-to-Cloud” Recipe Revealed

Wind River today unveiled the “edge-to-cloud” recipe, a customer guide designed to enable faster and easier development of smart connected devices in collaboration with IBM to support IoT adoption for industrial customers.

The newly released customer recipe guide contains methods for integrating and utilizing IBM Watson IoT Cloud Platform services with products from the Wind River Helix™ portfolio. Industrial customers can use this to connect industrial devices equipped with Wind River software to the IBM Watson IoT Cloud Platform and access IBM Bluemix cloud services and analytics, thereby supporting IoT developers in developing smart connected devices more quickly and easily.

Through this recipe and reference architecture, IBM and Wind River provide all the building blocks required for complete IoT solutions, including device management and IBM machine learning applications. The reference architecture contains technologies for the management and application of devices and systems for each market, such as smart buildings, intelligent transportation systems, factory automation, and healthcare.

Through this collaboration, the two companies provide comprehensive components for IoT solutions that span from the edge to the cloud. In particular, recipes for Wind River’s operating systems—VxWorks, Wind River Rocket, and Wind River Pulsar™ Linux—and Wind River Helix Cloud, which is provided as a SaaS product family, describe how to integrate with IBM Watson IoT Cloud Platform, IBM Bluemix, and IBM IoT Real-Time Insights for device data processing.
