Element14 (http://kr.element14.com/) adds the new NXP FRDM-K82F Freedom development board to the Freedom development board family for Kinetis K82, K81, and K80 MCUs, a series of high-performance, low-power, secure microcontrollers based on the ARM Cortex-M4 core.

Based on the Kinetis microcontroller family, the K8x series is designed for secure applications and features advanced security capabilities, including a boot ROM with encrypted firmware updates, automatic decryption via external serial NOR flash memory, hardware AES acceleration supporting sidebank attack protection, and hardware support for Public Key Cryptography. Furthermore, these advanced features are implemented while maintaining high levels of compatibility with previous Kinetis MCUs.

Element14 announced that it has expanded its portfolio of embedded solutions for applications requiring flexibility and advanced security features, such as product stores and IoT-enabled devices, by adding the FRDM-K82F development board. In addition, NXP designed this product to provide excellent flexibility by supporting various expansion board options, including an Arduino R3 compatible pin layout, FlexIO headers, and ample space to accommodate Bluetooth and RF expansion modules.

Other features include 256 KB of Flash and 256 KB of RAM supporting an operating frequency of up to 150 MHz, and a full-speed USB controller capable of crystalless operation. Additionally, an onboard 6-axis digital accelerometer and magnetometer are installed, along with RGB LEDs and
Freescale mbed™ HDK compatible open source hardware embedded serial and debugging adapter, OpenSDAv2.1 support is available.
